I am dedicating my work to the memory of my dearest mother, Dorothy and her beloved sister, Billie - pictured here in this lakeside photo, taken circa 1930.
My mother loved to see me practice my Photography - as she knew it brought me great the greatest of happiness in life. She truly enjoyed having me share my photos with her.
My Aunt Bille bought me my first 35mm camera in Venice, Italy in 1963 – and I have been hooked on photography ever since. Billie was a true Godmother to me during her all too short but wonderful life. She and her family opened their hearts and their home to me and my brother, Mark for the entire year (1963) that we spent in boarding school in Lausanne, Switzerland.
My cousin, Jill took me out on their balcony one night, and showed me the city lights of Evian, France - across Lac Leman from Lausanne. When I realized that it was possible to capture a photographic image of city lights at night – I forever became enamored by night photography. Hence, a great deal of my portfolio is indeed nighttime photography.
I also thank Keith Skelton – my mentor, for his inspiration and guidance, since I met him in 2016 on one of his Grand Canyon photo workshops. Having had the opportunity to study Keith’s photography and that of his photo friends, has greatly fed into my growth as a Photographer. Keith once fondly referred to me as the “Night Owl”.
